A history of 106 Mill Street
The couple, who own Stash Cafe, their landmark restaurant of 35 years standing in Old Montreal, have begun their new venture in this village of heritage homes that shelters a vibrant artistic community. It is located between Kingston and Ottawa on the Rideau Waterway which in 2007 was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While finding time to help Ewa run the gallery, Gordon will devote many hours to documenting the daily life of the region. He has a particular interest in heritage architecture and the recording of rural institutions and agriculture. Their opening show, will, appropriately center on Merrickville and the canal. Gordon's work is infused with a disarming awareness of place and through his eye we can both contemplate and check the passage of time. The gallery's photographic prints are finished with pigment inks on archival papers and framed with acid free museum quality matting for superb longevity. * * * * * Located at 106 Mill Street, summer hours are Wednesday through Sunday 11-5:00.
