The 10" x 12" color photo calendar contains photos of the Chateauguay Valley for the 12 months of 2007 and one extra photo page for 4 months of 2006 beginning with September.

It portrays typical scenes of the rural region and small towns southwest of Montreal (also referred to as the Haut St. Laurent or Upper St. Lawrence Valley) as well as 2 photos from Lake St. Louis and the Chateauguay River in the City of Chateauguay.

The calendar is a cooperative production by photojournalist Phil Norton and Sherbrooke-Valois Inc., a Montreal-based publisher of annual calendars of the Eastern Townships and other regions of Quebec (www.pricepatterson.com).

Major sponsors for this publication include:

Blair Orchards in Franklin

Dewittville General Store

Municipality of St. Martine

Quebec's Minister of Education
and MNA for Chateauguay, Jean-Marc Fournier

For the millennium year 2000 Norton self-published a Chateauguay Valley calendar that raised $3,000 for local charities. This year's project supports community groups that are selling the calendars such as the Barrie Memorial Women's Auxiliary and L'Ecole de danse Neva Shelton and others that are welcome to participate.

Norton has been documenting this region since 1982 as a freelance photographer and working for the weekly newspapers of the Hebdos Monteregiennes chain in Huntingdon and Chateauguay. He currently produces the monthly newspaper supplement, CV Magazine, for The Gleaner using a staff of student journalists from CVR High School. He also designs websites, brochures, annual reports and slide presentations for commercial clients.

Through his photography he attempts to reflect the authentic rural character that residents take pride in as well as to offer urban visitors a souvenir of pastoral scenes from the country.

The cover photo of orange autumn leaves over an old sugar shanty is a scene from High Trails Farm owned by Phil Norton and his wife Lynne Donovan in Franklin.
